Program of the 5 Days Tour from Fes to Merzouga

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Middle Atlas Mountains – Todra Gorges:

The voyage will take us to Todra Gorges on the first day. After meeting at your place of stay In Fez the voyage will go through the city of Ifran; different from the other cities of the country Ifran has European wonderful architecture surrounded by the Cedar forest; here we can stop to feed monkeys living in that forest and enjoy the fresh air. After that we will continue the route to Midelt City; located in the middle atlas; known for its apple production and the ancient mines of Plumb. We will stop there for lunchtime and continue the trip. The next direction is Todra Gorges next Tinghir city and Oasis town in the eastern part of Morocco, crossing the Tizi Ntalghamt a passage through the mountain that will transport you to another landscape view with deserted mountains except the river side. Arriving at the Todra Gorges a series of limestone river canyons we will stay there for a night.

Day 2: Todra Gorges – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Desert):

The next morning you will have your breakfast and start your travel to Merzouga, you can see along the way some Amazigh villages. We will pass through the towns of Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud here you can feel that we are entering the Moroccan desert of the Tafilalt Oasis. Arriving at Merzouga known as the town of the golden sand and drinking a cup of tea in the hotel, the local guide will take you on a camel ride to the Erg Chebbi the place where is the camp. The guide later will invite you for sandboarding and admire the sunset through the dunes. Dinner will be served under an amazing tent (takhamt) with a campfire and Amazigh music. You will spend the night under the tent..

Day 3: Merzouga – Berber Families – Black Desert – Merzouga Desert Camp:

The morning in the desert will start very early to allow you to see the sunrise and the changing of color of the golden dunes with time. After that, you will ride back camels to Merzouga at a hotel where you can get a fresh shower and a tasty breakfast before going in a visit to the villages surrounding Erg Chebbi dunes such as Hassi Labied, Merdani, Khamlia andM’fis. We will meet locals on the way to Khamlia who will show you their desert fausses. On the sand, you will probably encounter desert reptiles and mammals. Arriving in Khamilia known as the Gnawi village, black people coming from southern countries of Africa as slaves in the past were integrated into the Moroccan society. The people there will welcome you very hospitably with a cup of tea made in the desert manner (Amazigh whiskey) and listening to their lovely spiritual Gnawi music. Leaving Khamilia we will go toward the Algerian borders to have a panoramic view of the golden dunes before having a picnic lunch under the shadow of a tree. The ride will continue visiting nomads of the region living under an Amazigh tent and taking care of their herds. On the way back to Merzouga to have dinner and sleep the night at the hotel, you will come across the volcanic rocks and the Yasmina Lake where you will be surprised with the natural postcard of the dunes surrounding the lake ( in spring)

Day 4: Merzouga – Nomads – Safsaf Desert Oasis – Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes – Merzouga:

The next day you will start the trip at 8 am after having your breakfast at the khaima on the desert. This time you will cross the Black Desert to the Oasis of SafSaf. You will have many stops to admire the panoramic view of nature and visit nomadic people who are taking care of herds. There the people will share with you their traditional way of living and enjoy a cup of tea with them. We will continue our destination to the SafSaf Oasis where you will have your lunch at a very panoramic landscape in this heaven in the desert. Before the sunset, we will go back to Merzouga where you will overnight through a a large contrast of water, vegetation, and rocks. And sleep at a hotel next to the dunes.

Day 5: Merzouga – Errissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes:

On the morning of the 5th day, you will wake up and have your breakfast at the hotel. Then the tour will continue to Fez it’s; the old capital of Morocco known as the scientific capital of Morocco because of its old Karawiyin Madrassa the oldest University in the world recognized; the city as a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1981. Before we come to the last After taking a shower and breakfast destination and end of services, we are going to cross Errachidia the capital of the Daraa Tafillat Region, we will enjoy the Ziz gorges along the way and pass through Tunnel Zaabal which is if we can say the border to start a new landscape view. 30 minutes from the city of Midelt; there is the Tizi N’talghamt or the passage of the camel in the Middle Atlas mountain, we will pass from Midelt city which is known for its apple production and old Plumb mines of Minladen and Ahouli. There we will stop for a lunch break. Then the trip will continue to Fez where it will end your tour services.
