Desert Tour Itinerary Day-by-Day
DAY 1: MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – DADES VALLEY
The trip begins with a scenic drive over the Tizi N’Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains. The first stop is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most iconic film locations, followed by a drive through the Skoura Oasis on the way to the Dades Valley. The group settles in for dinner and an overnight stay in a private hotel surrounded by the valley’s canyon scenery.
DAY 2: DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGE – MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, the route heads to the Todra Gorge, with its towering canyon walls perfect for a short hike and photos. The drive continues through Erfoud, reaching Merzouga by late afternoon. From there, the group sets off on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, timed to catch the sunset over the sand before arriving at the desert camp for a traditional dinner and music around the campfire under a clear night sky.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA – ZIZ VALLEY – IFRANE – FES
The day starts with an optional sunrise camel ride, followed by breakfast and a shower back at the lodge. The route then heads north through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane — often nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style buildings — before arriving in Fes by evening, where the tour ends at your hotel or riad.
