A morning desert safari in Morocco offers a unique and enchanting experience, with a spectacular sunrise over the golden dunes, wildlife viewing including birds and fennecs, camel rides through the desert landscape, an atmosphere of relaxation and contemplation, and a delicious traditional Berber breakfast to round off the adventure. We recommend that you dress comfortably and bring extra layers for the cooler morning temperatures, as well as water and sun cream to keep you hydrated and protected from the sun.

Program of the Morning Desert Safari in Morocco 

We will take camels from the desert camp riding to high dunes for the breathtaking sunrise. We will start riding around 6 am (it may change according to sunrise’s time in the desert). Upone arrival, we will hike to the top of dunes and waiting fo the sunrise. If you have a camera, it’s better to not forget it to shot every moment of the sunrise. When the sun completely rised, you will have a Berber Moroccan breakfast and have a free time to do other desert activities such as quad biking, sand board, or have fun with the dunes. Later, we take camels back to your desert camp where our morning desert Safari ends.

DETAILED ITINERARY: 10 DAYS TOUR FROM MARRAKECH TO CASABLANCA

 

DAY1: MARRAKECH – ATLAS MOUNTAINS – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – DADES

The 10 days tour from Marrakech to Casablanca will start with meeting you for the first time. Marrakech was the old capital of Morocco’s ancient monarchs, and it is named to be the capital of the Maghreb Union. At 8 am we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains which is known as the highest top in Morocco 4,167m named Toubkal go Through the Tizi N’Tichka passage on the mountain and enjoy the various landscape views. On the route, we will have a break for tea with mint or coffee at one of the Amazigh Hamlets. The next break will be at Ait Ben Hadou village to visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadou; an old building that is for collective living, this Kasbah is nominated as a UNESCO Heritage in 1987. This Kasbah and the region, in general, are very important for the industry of film making (famous movies like the man who would be king in 1975 and many others) it is also a fortress on the Salt Road where caravans from different regions came to buy slaves, gold, ivory, and salt. Here we will enjoy the lunchtime special food of the region. Then we will continue the path towards the Dades Valley, through the Kalaat Magouna; a town known for its thousands of hectares of roses you can admire on May, Skoura Amazigh villages surrounding the valley of Dades; this valley which is shaped in a form of gorges long time ago, here we can spend the first night.

DAY2 : DADES – TODRA GORGES – JORF – ER RISSANI – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

The following day after your breakfast meal. The caravan will continue the road through the valley admiring the amazing rock formation ( the monkey toes) and the integration of the Kasbahs within the beautiful nature to name but a few of the amazing Kasbah of AitYul from the 19 century. Entering Tinrghir region and the Todra Valley and its panoramic landscape view and surrounding Amazigh villages. In the Todra Valley, we will have a walk through the river with its amazing 300m high red cliff which is a favorite destination for many rock-limbers to practice this sport. Lunchtime will be served either in Rissani or Erfoud; two town oases in the Sahara, before leaving for Merzouga the village of the golden sand where you will be welcomed with tea with mint then check in a Hotel.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – NOMAD FAMILIES – BLACK DESERT – MERZOUGA (CAMEL RIDE & NIGHT IN DESERT)

The next day will start at the place of your stay in Merzouga with breakfast then go towards the Algerian borders to visit the villages surrounding Erg Chebbi dunes such as Hassi Labied, Merdani, Khamlia, and M’fis. We will meet locals on the way to Khamlia who will show you their desert traditions. On the sand, you will probably encounter desert reptiles and mammals. Arriving in Khamilia known as the Gnawi village, black people coming from southern countries of Africa as slaves in the past, who get integrated into Moroccan society. The people there will be welcoming you very hospitably with a cup of tea made in the desert manner (Amazigh whiskey) and listening to their lovely spiritual Gnawi music. Leaving Khamilia we will go toward the Algerian borders to have a panoramic view of the golden dunes before having a picnic lunch under the shadow of a tree. The ride will continue visiting nomads of the region living under an Amazigh tent and taking care of their herds. On the way back to Merzouga to have dinner and sleep the night at the hotel, you will come across the volcanic rocks and the Yasmina Lake where you will be surprised by the natural postcard of the dunes surrounding the lake ( in spring). Here you will spend your first night under a traditional Amazigh tent watching the stars after a delicious dinner and fun time with drum music.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – ERFOUD – ER RACHIDIA – ZIZ VALLEY – MIDDLE ATLAS – MIDELT

On the morning of the 4th day, you will wake up and have your breakfast at the hotel. Then the tour will continue to Midelt. Before you will be taking a shower and breakfast, we are going to cross Errachidia the capital of the Daraa Tafillat Region, we will enjoy the Ziz gorges along the way and pass through Tunnel Zaabal which is if we can say the border to start a new landscape view. 30 minutes from the city of Midelt; there is the Tizi N’talghamt or the passage of the camel in the Middle Atlas Mountain, we will find Midelt city which is known for its apple production and old Plumb mines of Minladen and Ahouli. After lunch, you will be having a tour of Midelt’s most known places and go back to the hotel where you will overnight.

DAY 5:MIDELT – AZROU – CEDER FOREST – IFRANE – FES

Before checking out you will have a tasty breakfast at your hotel in Midelt. The tour then will continue to its last point Fez City; the old capital of Morocco known as the scientific capital of Morocco because of its old Karawiyin Madrassa or the oldest University in the world recognized; the city is a world heritage by UNESCO in 1981, going through the middle  Atlas Mountains you will come across the forest Of Azrou city where you will stop for lunch after feeding Monkeys next the forest. Leaving Azrou you will Pass via Ifran City known as a European city in Morocco because of its beautiful architecture. You will finally arrive in Fez where our driver will take you to your place of stay.

DAY 6: AIRPORT – FES (12 DAYS TOUR FROM FES)

The journey you will experience will start at the airport of Fes where our guide will take you from your place of stay to discover the city of Fez created 12 centuries ago by Moulay Idriss the second son of the first sultan of the first Arab dynasty in Morocco. The tour will take you to the old medina with its narrow streets and markets. You will see the beauty of the old medina which allows it to be recognized as a World Heritage by UNESCO. In one of the restaurants of the city, you will taste your lunch and then walk to see the most famous historical places of the city: the Al Quaraouine University created in the 6th century by Fatima El Fehriya, then have a walk at the Royal palace and visit the Boulnania Coranic school. Return to the place you stay at overnight.

DAY 7: FES- VOLUBULIS – MEKNES – FES

On the 2nd of the 10 days tour from Marrakech, we will move after breakfast to Volubilis an old Roman site that represents the very southern presence of the Roman Empire then we will meet Moulay Idriss Zarhoum Village where the Mausoleum of the founder of the first Arab dynasty in Morocco and father of the founder of Fez city. After that, we will move to Meknes which is named this way since it was the place where the Miknassa Amazigh tribe settled in the 10th century. You will be served lunch near the palace of El Hadim on which the Bab Mansour great door opens and visit the Heri Soani. In the Afternoon you can enjoy a walk through the old medina of Meknes before going back to overnight in Fez.

Day 8: Fes – Chefchaouen

On that day, we will continue our Marrakech Tour; from Fez to the gorgeous city of Chefchaouen famous as the blue pearl of the country situated in the Rif Mountains north of Morocco will start early in the morning picking you up from your place of stay. Arriving there you have the chance to walk in the old medina of Chefchaouen with its blue walls and beautiful doors before stopping for lunchtime. Afterward, you will visit the Kasbah in the center of the town built by Moulay Ismail founder of Meknes city used once as a fortress to fight against the colonialists. Later on, it’s time for shopping in Medina’s old market before calling it a day and going back to Fez City.

Day 9: Chechaouen – Rabat – Casablanca

We will drive to Rabat, where we will visit the administrative capital of Morocco. You will visit the Royal Palace, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Kasbah of Oudaya, white houses with blue parapets on the Atlantic Ocean. Then, you continue your 10-Day Marrakech Tour to the next city Casablanca, the largest one in Morocco and the economic capital. It’s important to visit the Hassan II Mosque while you’re touring the city. In the evening, you can go to the Corniche near the Mosque and take a coffee overlooking sea, the view is really breathtaking. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 10: Casablanca:

After breakfast, according to the time you should leave, you will continue the Casablanca City Tour. Today is the last day of your Grand Tour from Marrakech to Casablanca, so, our driver will drop you off at the airport.
