By day, the square pulses with snake charmers, storytellers, and musicians; by night, it transforms into a lively open-air dining area with countless food stalls serving authentic Moroccan street food. It lies at the strategic crossroads between the Draa Valley (leading to Western Sahara) and the Ziz Valley (extending toward the Eastern Sahara). The city played a key role in regional trade, and its historical roots are deeply tied to powerful southern Moroccan families like the Glaoui clan, who controlled vital caravan routes.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Ait Ben Haddou – The Legendary Kasbah” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]
Just outside of Ouarzazate lies the majestic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks.
