Set off on an unforgettable 8-day adventure starting from Agadir, weaving through southern Morocco’s diverse landscapes, vibrant towns, and the Sahara Desert charm. This circuit takes you through the historic city of Taroudant, the artisan center of Taznakht, cinematic Ouarzazate, and over the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Explore the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and discover the lush palm groves of the Draa Valley before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. Your journey continues through the dramatic Todra and Dades Gorges, the fragrant Valley of Roses, and the cultural heart of Marrakech. The tour finishes by the Atlantic coast in the coastal gem of Essaouira, with a return to Agadir.

Day 1: Agadir – Taroudant – Taznakht – Ouarzazate

Departing from your hotel in Agadir, your Moroccan road trip begins with a scenic drive to Taroudant, often referred to as the “Little Marrakech” thanks to its fortified walls and bustling souks. After exploring its historic charm, continue to Taznakht, a hub for Amazigh craftsmanship and renowned for traditional Berber carpets. By evening, arrive in Ouarzazate, Morocco’s cinematic gateway. Visit the world-famous film studios before checking into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Rissani – Merzouga

The second day takes you over the Anti-Atlas to the town of Agdez, where the Draa Valley opens with its expansive palm groves. After a lunch break, continue your route passing through remote Berber villages toward Rissani, the historic seat of the Alaouite dynasty. Upon reaching Merzouga, check into your desert accommodation, be it a kasbah-style lodge or an auberge, for a restful night and dinner.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert Experience

After breakfast, embark on an immersive desert excursion around Erg Chebbi’s golden dunes. Visit the Merzouga oasis and head to Khamlia village to meet the Gnaoua people, known for their spiritual music and sub-Saharan heritage. Explore nomadic settlements on the edge of the desert and tour the old Mifis mines. As the day closes, saddle up for a camel ride through the dunes to a traditional Berber desert camp. Day 4: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Journey north through Erfoud, famed for its fossil workshops, then pass through Tinjdad and Jerf en route to Touroug village. In the Todra Gorge, marvel at the sheer rock walls that tower above a flowing river. Continue via the winding roads of the Dades Valley to reach your accommodation near the Dades Gorges. Admire the unique “Monkey Fingers” rock formations before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay in a charming riad.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Your fifth day starts with a drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its rose-scented products. Stop in Skoura to explore the iconic Amridil Kasbah and its surrounding palm oasis. Then revisit Ouarzazate, stopping briefly at the historic Kasbah Taourirt. Next, explore the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, a fortress village featured in many international films. In the late afternoon, ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and reach Marrakech for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.

Day 6: Full-Day Marrakech Guided City Tour

Today, a certified local guide will lead you through Marrakech’s most iconic landmarks. Begin at the Bahia Palace, showcasing exquisite Moroccan architecture. Visit the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and explore the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 16th century. Continue to the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s largest and most prominent religious building. Discover the lively Jemaa el-Fna square, then in the afternoon, stroll through the peaceful Majorelle Garden. After a full day, enjoy some leisure time and return to your riad for the night.

Day 7: Marrakech – Essaouira

Depart from Marrakech toward the breezy Atlantic coast. As you drive toward Essaouira, you might catch a glimpse of goats perched in argan trees, an iconic Moroccan sight. Arrive in the charming port town of Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador. Discover its well-preserved medina, visit the historic ramparts and harbor, and explore artisan shops selling woodwork and silver jewelry. Enjoy fresh seafood by the ocean before settling into your hotel or riad for the evening.

Day 8: Essaouira – Agadir (or Marrakech)

On the final day of your journey, enjoy a coastal drive back to Agadir. Soak in the Atlantic views, and stop along the way for photos or snacks. Your tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or airport in Agadir. Alternatively, if preferred, you can be transferred directly to Marrakech airport.
