Itinerary 5-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
Your private desert tour begins with pick-up from Casablanca. We head to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, for a guided introduction to its historical and political landmarks.
Continuing inland, we arrive in Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its grand architecture and royal legacy. After exploring its highlights, we visit the nearby Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its beautifully preserved mosaics.
In the afternoon, we drive to Fez, where you will check into a traditional Moroccan riad. Dinner and overnight stay in Fez.
Day 2: Fez Guided Tour – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt
After breakfast, enjoy a guided exploration of Fez, including the historic medina, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and the impressive Royal Palace gates.
In the afternoon, we depart Fez toward Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and clean streets. The journey continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Azrou, where you’ll stop in the cedar forest to observe the famous Barbary apes.
We continue to Midelt, a town set between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. Dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel.
Day 3: Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we cross the Tizi N’Talghamt Pass and descend into the spectacular Ziz Gorge and Ziz Valley, famous for its vast palm groves and dramatic landscapes. Several stops will be made for panoramic views.
Passing through traditional Berber villages, we reach Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, then continue to Rissani, a historic trading center.
By afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. You’ll set off on a memorable camel trek at sunset, riding across the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi to your desert camp.
Enjoy dinner, traditional Berber music, and a magical night under the stars.
Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Wake early to experience a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp.
We depart the desert, traveling through palm groves and desert towns toward the impressive Todra Gorges, Morocco’s highest and narrowest canyon. Enjoy a walk through the gorges and lunch surrounded by towering rock walls.
In the afternoon, we continue to the scenic Dades Valley, famous for its rugged formations and ancient kasbahs. Dinner and overnight stay in Boumalne Dades.
Day 5: Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech – Airport Transfer
After breakfast, we explore the Dades Valley before heading to the fragrant Valley of Roses, known for its rose fields and local cooperatives.
We continue through the palm groves of Skoura Oasis and along the historic Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping for photos along the way.
In Ouarzazate, enjoy lunch and, if you wish, visit the film studios and cinema museum. We then cross the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech.
Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be transferred directly to the airport, marking the smooth and logical conclusion of your Moroccan desert adventure.
